To apply for pet food or sign up for a transport,
come to Tractor Supply in Elizabethton on
Saturdays from 10:30am to noon.
Low-income pet owners please bring
proof of family income below $25,000/yr.Help us match a $15,000 donation to open a low-cost veterinary clinic!  See the Projects page for details. 

Transport from (and return to) local drop-off points to a regional
low-cost spay-neuter clinic. Currently, we run weekly trips from
Elizabethton, TN to Margaret B. Mitchell Spay/Neuter Clinic (MBM).

Saturdays, 10:00 am to noon at the Redi-Mart.

Margaret Mitchell Clinic, and receive no public funding.
We are a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit operating solely on donations. All donations are tax deductible.

Spay-Neuter Pricing: 

Surgery: All Dogs: $60; Female Cats: $55; Male Cats: $40

Pets from 12 weeks old up to 7 years old can be spayed or neutered. Pregnant females can be spayed, but nursing females cannot.
Cats in heat can be spayed, but dogs in heat cannot.
Please note that the veterinarians at MBM do a health check before surgery and may determine that your pet is not suitable for surgery.

Shots: (given only at time of surgery)
$10 each (rabies, distemper/Parvo, kennel cough, feline leukemia)
(by state law, every animal must have a current rabies vaccination; if you do not have a certificate of proof of vaccination, a vaccination will be given at time of surgery. A rabies tag is NOT sufficient.)

Pain Medication (for 24 hrs. after surgery): $2

Flea/Tick treatment: $10

Home Again microchip: $20

Heartworm or FIV/Heartworm test: $15  

Transport fee: $15 for each carrier ($5 additional from Roan Mtn.)
(2 cats max. per carrier; 1 dog max. per carrier)

Low-income pet owners who live in Carter County may qualify for financial assistance. You will need some proof of family income less than $25,000/yr. (such as an EBT card, gov't housing lease, disability letter, etc.) when you sign up. Voucher amounts vary depending on the animal and grant program, but generally range from $10 to $35.
Please come to a sign-up to discuss this.

We currently have vouchers for low-income families with dogs
over 40 lbs. which will cover the cost of surgery ($60).

If you have a momma cat with 3 or more kittens, you can get the momma's surgery & rabies shot free if you pay for the kittens to be done. Kittens need to be 12 weeks old, and momma has to be done nursing. (They do not all have to go on the same trip.)

All animals must be in a hard plastic pet travel carrier for transport; we have a limited number of carriers available for loan. 
ALL carriers MUST have zipties at the four corners!
Cardboard, soft-sides, and wire crates are not accepted.
For dogs over 35 lbs., we use our own carriers; large dogs must be friendly enough for a vet-tech to walk on a leash.

Please note: You must sign up and pre-pay at least one week prior to your scheduled transport date. NO WALK-INS!

Sign-ups are every Thursday from 10:00-10:30am at the abandoned Raceway gas station near Food City in Elizabethton.  Also, Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Elizabethton 
from 10:30am to noon--bring transport fee in CASH.
***New! Bring your pet to be microchipped for just $20 at our sign-ups at Tractor Supply!***

***Sign-ups for the Roan Mountain shuttle are every Saturday from 10am to noon at the Redi-Mart on 19E in Roan Mountain.***

You do not need to bring your pet to sign up, but you need to pay at least the transport fee, IN CASH, to hold your reservation. Also, if your pet is current on rabies vaccination, please bring the rabies certificate with you to sign-up. NO CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS!

MBM keeps the animals overnight. Drop-off is 7:30 am in Elizabethton, 6:45 am in Roan Mountain. Return is generally about 10:00 am the next morning in Elizabethton, and 10:45 am in Roan Mountain.

(Normally, spay/neuter surgery alone costs approx. $150 and up. This voucher cannot be combined with other vouchers or discounts.)
