Sign-up is held at 150 E. Elk Ave. in Elizabethton on the

1st and 3rd Saturdays each month from 10 AM to 1 PM.

We stop taking new sign-ins at 12:45 PM.

ETSN provides scheduling assistance for spay-neuter surgeries.  The surgeries are performed at the Bristol Humane Society (BHS) in Bristol, VA.,

approximately a 45 minute drive from Elizabethton.

Sign-ups must be done in-person.  We do not take sign-ups over the phone or via the internet.  Payment is due at the time of sign-up.

We accept cash and debit/credit cards.  We do not accept checks.
Note: There is an additional $3 processing fee for debit/credit cards.

Self Scheduled Self-Transports (no processing fee):

After you register with ETSN, you will receive a certificate for BHS.  You must call or go online to make an appointment with BHS. We cannot do this for you.  Information on how to make the appointment will be provided when you sign-up.  Charges for spay/neuter surgery and rabies vaccination are paid to ETSN at the time of sign-up.  All other optional services may be arranged with BHS and are payable to BHS.

Self Transport - ETSN Provided Scheduled Date ($5 processing fee).

After you register with ETSN and have an ETSN provided appointment date, you will receive a certificate for BHS.  Charges for spay/neuter surgery and rabies vaccination are paid to ETSN at the time of sign-up.  All other optional services may be arranged with BHS and are payable to BHS.

We DO NOT do surgery or shots at sign-ups.  You do not need to bring your pet to sign-up.  Payment in cash or debit/credit card is required at registration. You must sign-up in person. We do not do sign-ups online or over the phone.

Low-income Carter County residents may be eligible for lower cost or discounted fees that are currently available. 

To qualify household income must be $30,000 or less per year.  Proof of income can be a paycheck stub, bank statement showing direct deposit, government award letter, etc.  Proof of Carter County residency includes a driver's license, utility bill, etc.  Both the proof of income and residency must be current.

 

By state law, every animal must have a current rabies vaccination; if you do not have a certificate of proof of vaccination at time of sign-up, a vaccination will be given at time of surgery. A rabies tag is NOT sufficient proof.

If your pet has a current rabies vaccination (with certificate from a vet or clinic), you can deduct $10 from the spay/neuter cost shown above. Certificate of proof of vaccination must be presented at sign-up.  A rabies tag is not sufficient proof.
No other discounts will apply.

Pets stay overnight at BHS.

Please Read the Following!

The following is important information about BHS's surgery requirements and other services.  
 

  • Please bring payment in cash or debit/credit card for the total fee to sign-up. 

  • Pets must be in good health and be between 12 weeks and 7 years old to have surgery.

  • Pets must weigh at least 4 lbs.

  • Pregnant females can be spayed at an additional cost of $10. Nursing females cannot be spayed.

  • BHS does not spay dogs in heat, but will spay cats in heat.

  • BHS does not spay/neuter flat-faced breeds such as Pugs or Persians.

  • Surgery prices include: pre-op exam by licensed veterinarian; specialized monitoring before, during, and after surgery; pre- & post-operative pain management; overnight hospitalization and incision site exam prior to morning release.

  • All pets stay at the clinic overnight and receive a small tattoo to indicate that they have been fixed.


Please note that the veterinarians at the clinic do a health check before surgery and may determine that your pet is not suitable for surgery at that time. Reasons may include: obesity, allergies, heart murmur, or other health reasons.
All pets receive an injectable pain medication at time of surgery.

ETSN is a nonprofit corporation. We are not affiliated with any clinic, shelter, rescue group, or humane society. We rely on donations, grants,

and volunteer support.
